From research to real-world solutions for the reconstruction of Ukraine

On September 21, partners involved in the ReUpress project joined the consortium meeting of the Safe, Swift and Sustainable Reconstruction of Ukraine (S3RoU) project at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The meeting brought together British, Dutch and Ukrainian partners to exchange knowledge and explore practical solutions for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences from ReUpress, a collaborative initiative focused on transforming locally available waste streams, including demolition waste and war rubble, into new construction materials. The project is being developed through collaboration between Dutch and Ukrainian partners, with support from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

Through laboratory visits, discussions and knowledge exchange, the partners explored how research and technological developments can be translated into practical applications for reconstruction. The shared focus is on developing construction solutions that make better use of local resources, reduce reliance on primary materials and support a more circular approach to rebuilding.

The exchange with the S3RoU consortium highlighted the importance of connecting research, technology and local expertise. By bringing together knowledge and experience from different countries and disciplines, initiatives such as ReUpress can contribute to practical, scalable and sustainable solutions for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
